Aalto Objects

2012, Series of 15 photographs, archival pigment print, 44 cm x 35 cm each

Objects from the series Aalto Objects belongs to architect Alvar Aalto and his home museum. I have explored the museum as a living space. The idea of home as a museum, as a kind of reconstruction of one’s life, which combines the public and private. The museum is in a constant state of change and is built of different historical layers: original objects that belong to that person/house, objects that are donated to the museum and the objects that are related to museum activity. Photography and museum are both tools to collect and produce collective memory. The work creates its own archive, a new collection of objects that ones belonged to Alvar Aalto.
